Lobuche East (6,119m) is one of the most popular technical peaks in Nepal's Khumbu region. Located near the Everest trekking corridor, it offers a genuine Himalayan climbing experience without the extreme altitude of the 8000m giants. For independent climbers using our dry-price permit and basecamp model, it represents excellent value and a realistic objective for climbers with prior experience.

Route & Difficulty. The standard route follows the south-east ridge, with sections of steep snow and ice up to 45 degrees. The summit ridge is exposed and requires solid crampon and ice axe technique. Most parties take 18 days from arrival in Kathmandu, including a thorough acclimatization schedule.

Required Experience. Prior experience with crampons, ice axe, rope techniques, and high-altitude trekking is essential. Your physical training should prioritise cardiovascular endurance and leg strength.

Best Season. Spring (April–May) offers stable weather and clear summit windows. Autumn (October–November) provides good conditions with colder temperatures. Winter climbing is possible for experienced parties.
